# xhycom post-processing tools

[xhycom](https://github.com/nansencenter/xhycom) is a Python-based toolkit for
post-processing and analysing HYCOM model output.

There are two ways to post-process and analyse HYCOM output — pick one:

- **[MSCPROGS](mscprogs.md)** — the original Fortran/C toolkit.
- **xhycom** (this page) — a Python-based toolkit covering the same
  post-processing and analysis tasks.

You don't need both. See [MSCPROGS](mscprogs.md) if you'd rather work with the
Fortran/C tools instead.
